December
On December 6, 2011, Mark Collins and Paul Gumprich of the Chilliwack Firefighters Charitable Society along with the Voodoo Dollz Roller Derby girls made a presentation of $1680 to Dale Erikson, Chairman of Team PCCN Chilliwack, the local Prostate Cancer Support group, for money raised in the Movember Campaign. The campaign gets men to grow moustaches to raise awareness of the disease. Canada came in first place, raising over $38,000,000 and worldwide, there was over $108,000,000 raised!

One out of 6 Canadian men will get Prostate Cancer in their life time, a rate more common that Breast Cancer in Women. However, men need to realize that with early detection it is very curable. Men should start getting regular DRE and PSA tests annually after 50, (after 40, if you have a history of the disease in your family, or are African American). PCCN Chilliwack holds their regular monthly meeting on the first Thursday of the month, (except January, July and August), at the Mt Cheam Lions Club Hall at 45580 Spadina Ave, Chilliwack. For more information, call Dale Erikson 604-824-5506.

Auguste is a prostate cancer survivor and spoke with the students about the disease and the history of the local branch. The Chilliwack branch of PCCN meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Lions Club Hall (45580 Spadina Ave.) at 7:30 p.m.
